Copyright

ELT Concourse doesn't have any money and is not in a position to pursue infringements of the copyrights on the materials on this site with expensive legal practitioners.
Reliance is therefore placed on your professionalism and honour.
Obvious infringements, however, such as placing materials taken from this site onto commercial sites which carry advertising will be notified to the owners and managers of those sites who may take action against infringers.  Indeed, they will be encouraged to do so.

What is allowed

All materials on this website are covered by a Creative Commons licence.
You are free to share, copy and amend any of the materials but under certain conditions:

Attribution: If the author is identifiable, you must attribute the work to that author and to this site.  If the author is not identifiable, you must attribute the work to this site.  In neither case may you do so in a way that suggests that the author(s) or this site endorse you or your use of the work.
All downloaded materials contain the ELT Concourse web address and that should be left where it is unless you have a very pressing reason to remove it.  If that is the case, please ask for permission via the contact page.
Non-commercial: The material may be used with fee-paying learners of English by individual teachers but may not be used on fee-paying courses for teachers.  Small excerpts from materials, conventionally attributed, may be used on such courses but wholesale lifting of materials is explicitly forbidden.
There is, of course, no objection at all to providing fee-paying course participants with annotated links to materials anywhere on this site.  Indeed, that is welcomed.
Share Alike: If you alter, transform, or build upon this work, you may distribute the resulting work only under the same or similar license to this one.

For full details of the terms of the licence, both in legal terms and in language readily understood by normal people, please click on this link: Creative Commons link

not allowed

What is not allowed

A number of uses are not allowed by implication but, for the sake of clarity, we'll set them out here:

Attribution: No materials may be used without attribution.  This includes both text and diagrams.
Commercial: You may not use the material for commercial purposes.  Materials may not be copied and used in private institutions on a school-wide basis.  Individual teachers may use the materials providing they are credited.
Materials cannot be used wholesale on fee-paying courses for teachers (such as Trinity, CELTA or Delta).
Share Alike: You may not share the materials on commercial sites (e.g., those carrying advertising or which charge a fee for access).
If materials are altered or incorporated into other original work, such work may not be used for any commercial purpose.

If you are in any doubt about how to use the materials or what is allowable, please get in touch via the contact page.
